This is an excellent opportunity for your Post to Support WW II Veterans.  It costs $250.00 to pay for a Veteran on this flight.  WW II vets do not have to pay anything.  Honor Flight is a 501(c) charitable organization in Ohio and raises money to pay the vets portion so I would encourage your Post to donate money to Honor Flight if you can afford to.  You may also wish to supply a Guardian for a flight and the Guardian must pay $250.00 for their trip or the Post may wish to donate the money to the organization as a charitable contribution.  In fact if your Post would like to support the Vets and a guardian the Post can write 1 check to cover it all.

Greetings from Brian Duffy,

On Wednesday, September 5, 2007 I had the honor of escorting 32 WWII veterans from Louisville International Airport to Washington DC to visit the WWII Memorial.

The trip was the first from Louisville for the Tri-State Honor Flight organization. "Honor Flight" was founded in 2005 by Earl Morse to help facilitate the ability of WWII vets to visit THEIR memorial. I was made aware of the program at the recent VFW National Convention held in Kansas City. I knew immediately, that I needed to become part of this noble effort - and help our warriors of yesteryear see their memorial. The veterans were all from Northern Kentucky and Southern Ohio. All the veterans traveled free of cost ($250 per veteran) thanks to donations. The 15 escorts "Guardians" proudly paid their own way to be part of the honor of assisting these heroes.

Enjoy.
